Is there a dialer that can be integrated
into Opera (win 3.x) similar to Arachne so
you can start the browser and then dial
your ISP?

no ken, you cannot get a dialer that's built-in to opera; however, as long as you add the path statement for the dialer that you use, to your autoexec.bat file, starting up opera, or any web browser, should bring up your dialer too.

you have a few choices as far as dialers. you'd want want one with tcp/ip stack included. internet explorer 3 has a version with a stack & dialer; you can download it from this link to tucows:

http://win3x.tucows.com/adnload/4770.html

netscape navigator 3.01 has a dialer as well; you can download it at this link:

http://members.tripod.com/~sorgos/

as a third option, you can do a search for tumpet winsock 2.0b, though you'll have to do some digging. chances are you'll need some help setting it up, as it's a pain in the ass doing so; though it does work ok, and doesn't require you to download a major web browser in order to work.

if yo uhave lots of harddrive space, i would suggest ytou try netscape's or ie's dialer; they'll set up everything for you, find your modem, etc, and all you need to do is click on "connect" once you've set the dialer options up.

good luck,
james

James

We have Arachne 1.66 and am very impressed
with the built in DOSPPPD driver and
Miniterm dialer that it has!

Is there any way that we can transfer or
use them with the latest Opera Win 3.x
browser?

Or if that is not possible, is there any
way we can log on with Arachne and then
shift over to Opera?

ken, isn't arachne a dos-based web browser? if so, i'm not sure you can use the dialer with a windows-based web browser (like opera). if you're asking whether the dialer is built-in, i don't know; perhaps look up the arachne website, see if they have a "FAQ" section or tech support section.
