Question about setting Opera disk cache drive. Figure Win 3x forum might be the best place to ask since Opera support doesn't support 16bit version anymore. I have XMS Ram drive on my system and I want to have Opera use it instead of the C drive for the disk cache. The Opera help menu says you go to user prefs in the Opera.ini file and change path for disk cache but in my ini file there is no path line for the disk cache. Anyone out there using Opera 3.62 know how to have Opera use the Ram drive for the disk cache instead of the C drive?

In Opera, click 'preferences' then 'advanced' - the first thing that you see is 'Opera User Directory'. For my virtual drive, I've specified F:\
Opera creates a subdirectory F:\cache and changes the entry in opera.ini to read OPERA DIRECTORY=F:\

Hope that helps.

Thanks jboy. That did the trick. Does seem to speed up Opera a bit since it can access the Ram drive faster than the C drive. The only problem seems to be it also looks for my cookie file there so if I go to a site like My Yahoo the site doesn't find my saved login cookie which is on the C drive and I have to log in again. Any way around that? Any other tips or tweaks to speed up or customize Opera 3.62? I have used IE, Netscape and many other browsers and nothings tops Opera. It was worth the money.

Hmmm, possibly you could copy the cookie over to the ram drive from autoexec.bat
Don't really use 3.62 for on-line browsing, just have it on an old machine to read HTML. Definitely a great browser though - I use version 6 for the web.
There are a few tips & tweaks sites, but they're basically for version 5 and up.
