Subject: One Drive Bay Problem
OS: WfW 3.11
CPU/Ram: Pentium/40MB
Model/Manufacturer: Toshiba Satellite 200CDS
Comment:
Before I start on installing Windows 95, I need to be able to boot from the boot disk for Windows 95 and then install Windows 95 from the CD-ROM, but I cannot have both in at once, so what should I do? I cannot think of any way that I can do it. Any help would be great, thanks a million!

Boot on FD, partition/format/sys the HD. Put the files/drivers you need on c:

Swap FD for CD; boot on HD. Away you go.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I am assuming you have FAT16 W95, though why this is in the W3 forum is beyond my comprehension. You will require.

MSDOS 6.22 Boot Floppy
MSDOS CDROM Setup Floppy

Boot the Laptop with the created MSDOS 6.22 floppy disk, at the A:\>_ command prompt type:

FDISK and press ENTER

Follow instructions to create a FAT16 Primary Active C: partition (maximum 2GB) and any further partitions you may require.

After creating partitions reboot. Then after reboot you need to format the created drive, at the A:\>_ command prompt type:

FORMAT C: /S (please leave a space between format and c: and /s) and press ENTER

Insert the CDROM Setup floppy, at the A:\>_ command prompt type:

xxxxx and press ENTER (accepting the default install directory)

Shut down the Laptop and swap over to the CD Drive and upon rebooting you will have a screen showing the CD drive has been found by MSDOS and a drive letter assigned, lets assume it is D:

Insert the Windows 95 CD and at the C:\>_ command prompt type:

D: and press ENTER
SETUP and press ENTER

I think that I can install the DOS CD-ROM drivers from Toshiba and start the Windows 95 install from Windows for Workgroups 3.11, I think that this will work, do you? Thanks a million!
