It's a Matsus_hita drive. This thing is going to read a 1.2Mb 5¼ floppy or a 360kb 5¼ floppy. You do not need drivers to make it work.
My suggestion is to shove a known good 1.2Mb floppy in it and see if it reads it.
It must be (and likely is) defined in bios.

look at the three blocked letters; "hit". This is a family site and you can't say matsus---a but you can say pissed.
So, let's make it a Matsushirta drive.

Just got online, the thing i wanted to know about was jumper settings. When connected to the old PC it all reads fine in BIOS and is detected OK. I have some old 5.25" disks which I tried but got "General error when reading" but i'm pretty sure these I got these old disks with an old Apple II machine i was given some time back so no wonder they wont read. I think it may be a 1.2MB drive, I found some more writing on the drive, Panasonic and JU-475-3AKJ. Now I just need a manual because there are *loads* of jumpers on this thing, it looks so ancient lol.
BTW I have another problem with this 386 machine but i'll put this in a new post because its completely different.
Summary: Hi jack sewell: There are 2 ways I can think of to copy from a 5.25" floppy to a 3.5" floppy. First if you have one 5.25" you can setup as your slave (if you want to use 3.5" as master) & setup 3.5" a...
