No mouse or keyboard after 3.11 install

Comment:
My mouse and keyboard work perfectly in MS-dos and during the 3.11 for Workgroups installation process. However, when that's done and I reboot and type WIN, Windows loads up, but at the point where I am asked for a password, neither my keyboard nor my mouse work. Any ideas why? Thanks, Susan

How did you do the install for 3.1, auto or user select? Were they securely plugged in when you were doing the install? Are the correct drivers installed for the keyboard and mouse?

Your mouse and keyboard work perfectly in DOS? Try this. REM out your mouse driver line in the config.sys and reboot. Then install windows again into itself.

Your mouse works in DOS because it is driven by a file called mouse.com. When you go to Windows you need a mouse.sys file to drive it.

thanks guys! With your suggestions I have managed to get the mouse to work in Windows. Unfortunately, the minute I press a key on the keyboard, everything freezes again, mouse included.
