You may need to explain more
Are you telling me, there is one computer with no 3.5" drive, only a 5.25" inch drive, and you want to copy information from it.

You could use laplink, as suggested, you going to need to get a data transfer cable.
You are going to need to run intersvr and interlnk, assuming you have dos on both computers

Or take the 5.25" disk drive out and replace it with a 3.5" drive, it can be done

Hello Jack,

As David says, a little more explanation is needed. If I understand you correctly, you have a pile of 5¼" floppies which need to be copied onto 3½" floppies.

If you fit a 5¼" drive, this will become 'B' drive when you connect this to the extra plug on same IDE cable as your existing 3½" 'A' drive.

If using Windows File Manager, transfering the contents is easy. If using DOS, remember to use 'XCOPY' and not 'DISKCOPY'. 'DISKCOPY' only works when copying to floppies of the same type.

Make sure you fit a 1.2MB and not an earlier 720kB or 360kB 5¼" drive, because the earlier drives cannot read 1.2MB discs.

Good Luck.

Regards,

Jon Glenny.

Oh! and remember to tell your BIOS that the new 5¼" drive is there.
