I downloaded "Callwave Service" and it won't work without a video driver with 256 colors and an 8 bit mode. I don't know where and how to start. I tried changing settings and that did not work. I have 16 colors. HELP!!!!

Debra,

If your video has 512 kb of memory on it, it should be capable of 256 colors in 640 x 480 mode.

To change to 256 colors you usually have to load the specific drivers made for your card.

If you don't know which card you have, open your computer, pull the video card out of its slot and see if there is a make and model number listed. If not, then look at the main chip on it and write the information down.

Then click on the DRIVERS->Video link on this Page and see if you can find the drivers for your card.

There will probably be a text file, included with the drivers that will explain the installation. If not check back here if you have trouble changing to 640 x 480 256 colors.

If you have Windows 3.1 you need SVGA.exe Update. Only Windows 3.11 & WfWG 3.11 have SVGA drivers on install disks.

Get SVGA.exe from www.powerload.fsnet.co.uk

Warning - Only use if you have 512kbs of video memory.

Or do a search at www.windrivers.com/company.htm
for your make of video card.
