Comment: Hi mates, I was wondering if anyone could either share or tell me where to download the upgrade from Windows 3.1 to Win95 on floppies -- thanks. I had already check me favorite place www.abandonkeep.com and it hasn't got it.

Reply: (edit)There are ways around the cdrom thing. Is the machine fast enough, and with enough memory, that W98 would be a good choice? CDROM's are down to as low as 35.00 here and there, maybe less. That's one option. The other is to transfer the install files from the CDrom drive on your "good" compouter through a "laplink/direc connect" type cable with laplink, xtlink, or (gasp, gag) Microsoft interlink/interserver. Also, a good place to buy 95 on floppies is ebay. READ carefully, I wouln't buy any that are not "sealed" "new" etc

Reply: (edit)I agree totally Novice 1. I have bought from E-bay also & my package was sealed. Corrupt cab files was all I got. And to this nonono guy shut up. If you cant help the guy on what he asked for keep you stupid comments to yourself. Also speak for yourself about the Win95 buy it like the rest of us did because alot of people didn't. Maybe the guy does not want to spend money on a cd-rom drive. I wouldn't just to install Win95. I make copies of software I've bought from the past 5 or 6 years operating systems/software etc,& email them to abandonware sites for them to offer to help people out with old pc's & I dont consider it illegal. I cannot stand you people who make a big deal out of someone wanting Win95 etc. You all are sickening. Who cares. Better spread than dead.

Reply: (edit)I guess if this nono guys brother, sister, uncle,or best friend asked to use his Win95 disks to install on there pc he would say NO,GO BUY IT LIKE THE REST OF US DID. Of course not. He is the biggest jerk! I payed for Win95 cd version & if a family member/friend etc wanted to use it I could care less. Go jump in a lake! Win95 downloads are starting to flow just as much as Win3.1/3.0 and all the dos versions. Do a search on Win95 in this forum YeOldeMosh. You will find a download site.

Reply: (edit)Thats the beauty of the Internet. They try to keep old software alive. And thats a very good thing because there are plenty of old pc's floating around here & they are good for the average computer user who doesn't need a powerful pentium III pc.

Reply: (edit)Mr. stupid nonono. You are NOT fooling anyone. We all know you meant what you said. If you didn't you would of tried to help the gentlemen on what he specifically asked for. The thing is, you got so many negative responses that you now are trying to turn it around as if you didn't mean what you said. This forum is for helping people, not discouraging them. Stop playing games & grow up ignorant!

Reply: (edit)Im not tryin to turn anything around. I baited you stupid kids or you wouldnt be cryin around. I meant what I said. Windoz95 was built at great expense by a bunch of hard working people, unlike you, and it is a COPYRIGHT protected software under local, state, and federal law. Ilegally using this is GRAND THEFT at the least. Do any of you work for a living? What do you do? Anybody actually do REAL work? Like plumbing, build houses? How would you like it if you spent about a year of your time building a house, and the owner says, "I just don't feel like paying you, get outa here" How would THAT be? That'ss what you do when you ILEGALLY copy software--you are telling the guy who "built" it that you are not going to pay him. If you go into a BANK and do this, they put you in JAIL. Well, I got news for ya--you can go to jail for copying and ilegally using software, too, its STEEEEEELLLLLLIIIINNNNNGGGGG As far as my relatives? They can buy their own, and they do.

Reply: (edit)Dear nono Sucker: You can talk all the trash you want. It will still not change all the abandonware sites & warez sites out there available. By the way do you work? You spend a lot of time on this site. And we could care less about your phylosophy about Microsoft. By the way, go back to school & learn the real meaning of the word baited or go buy a dictionary instead of spending all your time on this site. You are just showing your stupidity.

Reply: (edit)David, you have a long, hard road to go. you are no way older than 17, at the most. Talk trash? What is that? Did I call your mommy something. What has Mickey Mouse to do with anything? And YOU, you, jerk, if you "five fingered" a Nestle bar, its still STEALING, PERIOD. USING UNLICENSED COPIES OF SOFTWARE IS STEALING, PERIOD. It is no different than burglarizing a house, robbing a store, or anything else. Be stealing software, you are robbing someone of his income, Period. I don't know where you children were brought up, and where your parents were, but this is dishonest and stealing. Hell, why don't we expect EVERYBODY to do it? Why can't I go to Staples or Office Depot, and say "Hey, Mr Manager, Why don't you burn me a copy of office 2000? I won't tell, and I'll pay you not as much as Microsoft, but you can make a little money!!!" Why don't we just all do that? Don't attack me about jobs, while you kids were sittin on your asses in school, or probably watchin' MTV, I was out climbing broadcast towers. Ever climbed a 500 ft tower? No elevators allowed. Ya know, if I spent a month on a tower job, and when I got back to the shop they said, "Well, we're not going to pay you for this or that reason, I'd raise bloody hell--and so would YOU, IF you had jobs. I'll tell you what--Why don't some of you kids sit down and write a little program, and then try and get it marketed--see how far you get with THAT? THIS SOFTWARE DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU, IT BELONGS TO THE PERSON WHO SPENT HOURS, DAYS, MONTHS, YEARS, WRITING, DEBUGGING, REFINING, AND MAKING IT WORK!!!!

Reply: (edit)Cant you people see he is a Gates employee. No one else would care to raise this much hell about a Win95 download. Accept it. Free downloads are here to stay. Wake up fellow, quit your bitching, & smell the coffee. As many people as Gates monopoly has suckered money out of with his crappy OS that takes 1000megs to run, forcing people to upgrade/buy new pc's because they cannot buy decent software for there pc's that are obselete in less than a year. If you do not like what is being said in these forums feel free to visit the other millions of pages of the internet. You have a choice you know so click on another link.
