I need help! Obviously i need to know where i can get a win 3.1 isp for free. Im not going to dish f***ing 20$ or 4.00 for that matter to a money hungery company. The internet should be free! please help
www.1NOL.com is supposed to have free Internet for win 3.1. When I tried to sign someone up, I got an error code after going through the registration process.

Now now Jason, didn't your mamma ever tell you it is not nice to say bad words. You should be grounded from internet use until you can get a job so you can pay your own internet bill. Nothing in life is free. Of course you are too young to know that now.

Can't say I blame ya for tryin to save a little money when ya don't have much to begin with.Thats called being resoursefull ;^> I have a dedi. cable. but I'm still tryin ta get an old 1991 Compaq runnin win3.1 online for my 10yr old daughter so she'll stay off my sys.(too expensive for her to screw up by acident).So far I havn't even found a modem for it yet so I'm tryin to find out anything I can about win3.1,free dial-up isp's and anything else I can .So if any of you have any ideas there are some of us that would be verry greatfull for your help. There are plenty of modems out there for Win3.1. I bought one yesterday from office depot. You have to have a hardware modem, not a winmodem. You can also use an external modem. They always work because they have to be able to understand hayes commands. As far as free ISP'S go, I pay for mine so I can't help you on that.
Instead of trying to look for a modem yourself, take it to a qualified technician. Tell them what you want & they will fit you with the correct modem. Thats what I did. I have a 33.6 internal Maxtech hardware modem. Works great with Windows 3.1. I downloaded Netscape 3.0 because it comes with a dialer. After I logged on I downloaded Netscape 4.0 because it functions better than 3.0 & handles Java better. You will get java script errors with Netscape 3.0. Anyway it was as easy as that.
I saw some hardware modems today in Wal-mart that said they would work on a 386 or higher. They were $70.00. They were ISA modems. Just have to know what you are looking for when shopping for an older computer.
Thanks Henry, Mark and Dan. This place is way better than asking someone in a shop(although they need the buisness too). Because I don't think most of them have to deal with the various minor bugs that are worked out after new hrdw. installations. Bugs that are worked out by trial & error.I don't know about anybody else but I don't particullarly like to keep taking the same machine back to the same person/s over & over agian for minor things. Thanks agian All.
P.S. I hope you find that I.S.P. Jason, keep lookin and keep us updated. If I run across one I'll post it here ok.
