Whenever i try to turn on my old pacard bell windows 3.1 (and it has ms-dos 5.0).Its all connected right to the monitor and the outlet. When i turn it on the fan is running and the light is on. But theres nothing on the monitor and it seams that the keyboard is not ressponding. So im wondering if anyone can help me fix it before i destroy it. if u have any questions abut my computor please post.

Has this thing been unplugged for a long time or in use? Been moved around a lot?
Any beeps? Three little lights on keyboard flash right after you try to boot it?Anyway, I'd begin this way.
Turn it off and unplug it. Remove the hood and reseat any cards and memory chips.
Try it again.
On the downside, you misspelled packard twice.
On the upside, you got bell right both times.
Skip

No the lights on the keyboard are solid but when i press like caps lock, scroll lock or num lock nothing changes, the lights stay on.
Anyway i already removeed the hood but i'm not a computer expert so i dont know like what cards you're talking about.
so can u be more um specific please?

When a computer has been just "sitting" somewhere for a long period of time without being turned on, the metal surfaces of all the connectors can become oxidized and no longer conduct electricity. What SkipCox was suggesting was to carefully unplug the various connectors and then EVEN MORE CAREFULLY replug them. This breaks the thin layer of oxidation that has built up and re-establishes an electrical connection. While this may not be your problem, it's the easiest, cheapest "first step" when trying to get an old computer running again. Just set the box on a good table where you can easily get into it. Give yourself plenty of lighting. Look carefully at each different connection, such as where the power supply plugs into the motherboard, the memory chips, etc. Just pull the connections apart and then reconnect. Then try to start your computer again.
