Hi, I just downloaded WinPlay3 for win3.11, so i could try to play mp3`s on my 486dx2.
But the problem is when I try to play an mp3 file with it I get the error message:

The specified format is not supported or cannot be translated. Use Capabilities function to determine the supported formats.

My soundcard is in working order so it can`t be that. What may be the problem?

Thanks Mannenigata

Are you trying to play an MP3 online or downloading to your hard drive and then playing a *.mp3 file?

I've never tried WinPlay3. I always use AudioActive 1.3. It has always worked fine for me. You can download it from the Windows 3.1 page of my website.

By the way, are you having the problem with more than one MP3, or just one in particular?

I get the exact same message with the Audioactive player. It`s not one particular file. I`ve tested 4 files so far, and they all work on my other computer (win2k)

Try WinPlay and Audio Active 32 bits on your win2k system.
If it doesn't play there you have bad mp3 files....
Winplay and Audio Active 16 bits were never a problem for me.
Also try the DOS player from www.multimediaware.com/qv to see if that works...

I don't think it's bad mp3's
It sounds like your player is not supporting the mp3 format. Try a few different players or see if there is a codec for your existing ones.
