Okay I have a 386 computer and I loaded windows 95 on it and it works fine except there is not mouse. I have the mouse hooked up and have loaded the mouse driver but it still does not work, which needless to say prevents me from installing some games because a mouse is needed to play the games. I had win 3.1 on it first and the results were the same. Any ideas anyone?

Howdy, Well I don't know why you would run 95 on a 386 but all to there own. To the problem, there is a good chance you have a controller card that runs the hard drive, floppy and COM1,COM2 and LPT1 These cards do fail over time and the ports do go bad first most of the time. You can try the COM 2 port, which you most likely will have to get a 25pin to 9pin adapter to suppot the mouse and see if that works. Also, the ribbon cable for COM1 could have come loose or is not installed properly, the red stripe along the one side of the cable must go to pin1 on the controller card. You could also have a bad mouse as well as the port could be disabled on the card as well as in the BIOS. There are lots of things to check. You can take it to a tech, if they know what a 386 is. Most these days have never seen a contoller card. Anyways, it will cost ya to have it fixed most likely more than the computer is worth to be honest it has no resale vaule at all. Those are some suggestions, if you have any more questions. Just e-mail me.

You've got to be nuts to try to run win 95 on a 386. In theory it will work, obviously in your case it has. However the money you spent upgrading to windows 95 was probabally as much as twice the value of the computer itself.

Jules,
keep your 386/win95
try to get all the fixes for 95
and plese reply to me if your useing
that pc to do this research,That would be impresive!I CAN'T EMAGINE A 386 SET UP WITH
A BROWSER TO EVEN BE HERE!
But if you hav'nt found the fix yet,
save anything worthy, errase everything, format load dos, then load your
mouse driver/be sure its working when
windows is loaded,or try a different
driver,at that point.test all com ports too.
