I have two questions regarding my Compaq Contura 3/25 Laptop with 3.1.
1) How can I add color, it is currently setup on standard VGA, which is black & white only?
2) The Laptop came with a weird looking mouse, kind of small but wide with a large ball on the bottom. This mouse would not work. So I plugged in a regular compaq mouse but sometimes it will not work at all. What can I do?
Not sure how to work the original mouse?

Hi Denise:
Since you are using VGA setting, are you sure that your LCD screen is not a B&W instead of color screen. You could have a track ball control instead of a mouse, can you try another mouse to see if it works, if not your port connection maybe worn (works on & off). The track ball could also be bad, laptop are not designed to be a durable as a desktop PC. As for getting color, can you plug in a monitor to your laptop, if you see color then LCD screen is B&W only.Good luck.

question #1 was answered in ur previous string...
"both the Contura 3/20 & 3/25 came with Monochrome VGA screens...the Contura 4/20 & 4/25 series came with Color VGA screens..."
u cannot get color with ur laptop, ur screen is Black & White...
in responce to question #2...u might want to try a serial mouse...
N1...

denise, i have a contura 3/25c (color)i also have a spare color screen for it that would fit your 3/25. that weird mouse is the "trackball" that came with it, you use your thumb on the ball, not like a mouse, i love mine, the old contura is a great little machine isn't it!! -uncle joe

Uncle Joe,
Are you interested in selling your spare color screen? If so, please email me and quote me a price.
Also, when I plug in the track ball, nothing happens, can I reinstall it w/o a installation disk. When I boot up there is a caution message at the end, but it goes so fast, I can not make it out. Please advise
