Modem Installation

Hello,
I've recently bought a 33.6kps modem and I'm trying to set it up on a PC with Windows 3.1. The problem I'm having is that it can't seem to be detected. I've put it in com port 3 and when ever I try to detect it, It can't be found. Do I need a driver to operate it? or could it be my settings in control panel are wrong?

Win 3.1 might have an easier time of finding the modem if you first disable com 2 in your bios, then put your modem on com 2. You might also have to disable com 2 on a controller card jumper, if you have a controller card.

I bought a US Robotics 28,800 fax modem for my pc (that has windows 3.1) and every time I try to get online it says modem not detected. what can I do?

To check the modem with terminal I have to set the com port each time. Click on comunications. Terminal suports only com 1 and com 2. Then type at then enter modem should return ok
