Need the above drivers for Win3.1 so that I can get the CDROM (50 pin (SCSI) runs off the sound card)and the sound card to work. Believe the 3.1 version also works on Win95? If I can get it all to work, will upgrade to win 98. It's a 486 machine for a friend who can't afford to replace it at this time.

Hi Fred:
I'm not sure want you want to do, but it sounds like you want to end up using Win 98? Well first I would stay with Win 95 for a 486 PC, & I never heard of a sound card that had SCSI ports on it (maybe there's such a thing), had a sound card with IDE CD-ROM ports (sound card with 4x CD-ROM). I did install Win 95 on my old 486 with this sound/CD-ROM setup, but what I did was to partition hard drive so that I could copy Win 95 install CD info to hard drive using Win 3.1. I had the drivers for CD-ROM on Win 3.1, but when I tried to do a clean install from 95 CD my PC would install (after putting the needed info on start-up floppy boot disk) so far then couldn't detect CD-ROM for drivers in 95, it drove me crazy. So by running setup from hard drive everything installed fine, just a lot more work, & don't need to keep a copy of CD Win 95 to make changes to OS. You should be able to install a SCSI card for you CD-ROM that is plug & play for Win 95, this would probably work better for you.

Here's a site for a 10 meg "PCI" card for $39.00, picture is from startech.com site.

Hope this might help you, good luck.

Look here

Also try a search in Google Type, with quotes
"jazz 16"

Then go to bottom, click on Search Within Results.

Type SCSI
