You erased the container file for your compressed drive and you erased all the bootup files.

When you've compressed a drive, the h: drive is the original uncompressed drive with the bootup files and the container file which holds the compressed data. The container file becomes the c: drive but it's actually just a huge file on the h: drive, which you formatted.

You might try the unformat command.

You can try using a data recovery program (one is at my web page) like Norton Disk Doctor. If that fails, you'll have to reinstall everything from scratch.

Since you were trying to format it anyways, just delete the partition and then make a new one.....that would be the most simple way to start over... you should always do that if you want to uncompress a drive (and you don't want the data)

If you formated your dive H: Then you no
longer have a boot drive ok.
Do This:
1. If you have your dos setup disk. this is the Dos.622 software
insert the disk that contain the
Dos software program in to drv a: and
RUN SETUP.
Enter this comm from a:setup

THIS WILL INSTALL DOS622 OPERATING SYSTEM
If during the setup operation you are ask
if you would like to run drive space then do so at that time. If Not
Then Run Drive space
after you have run setup ok.
Then remove the setup disk from a: and reboot the system if it dose not boot from
c: then,
insert the setup disk in drv a:
and reset the system.

2. from drive a: enter this command
sys c: and wait you'll see
a message stateing system file
transfered ok.
3. Remove disk from drv a: and reset again.

Comment:If in the future you need to format
your hard drv use drive space to
do the job ok. How? Enter drivespace
and use the pull down menu to select
the formst command ok.
