I want to share and transfer files between
my laptop thinkpad 755cx running win 3.1,
and my hp pavilion 6830 ...windows me.

Can this be done through a cable?
Which ports do I use?
What software do I need?
If they are hooked up does the main computer
boot up to see the other one as a drive,
or is there special software
I will get into that does everything?

Thank you
Dave Renaud

Its best to network the 2 machines, see:

Alternatively you can use a nulmodem cable on your com port or a (faster) parlink cable on your serial port.

One of the solutions is Laplink 6.0 for Windows 9x and 3xx.
I got my version(s) of Laplink (6 and 7.5) for free with some computermagazines.

You can also use MS-DOS 6xx Interlink and Interserv. Just type Help in MS-DOS 6.22
I had to install the 2 files on my Windows 98 system and it works, but I don't know for ME.
