Make yourself a boot diskette. Get the executable to make it here. After creating the boot diskette, boot it, then enter these lines to boot Windows 3.1 (hopefully):

A:\>C:
C:\>CD \WINDOWS
C:\>WIN

Good luck.

Hi Jim,
Am not familiar with your system, but from
here, assuming it has worked for you before,
it seems the harddrive settings have been
lost (may be battery failing, virus, or hard
drive failing). Anyway, you need to get into BIOS to check if the settings are correct for your drive. Might have auto-detect of drive -but I really am doubtful on your 386.
Probably need to put them in manually.

Read the screen carefully at first boot try.
On bootup a message to press a key(s) for
setup could be visible. Such as: DEL, F1, ESC

BIOS setup settings are critical.
See if you can talk an experienced computer
person to help you. Usually they are eager to help a newcomer.
-Best wishes.
