Hi,

I'm trying to install Internet Explorer 5 in Windows for Workgroups 3.11.
When I try to start the setup it says that there is a file called SUCOMCT2.DLL missing and when I close the error message another errer pops up saying "Library not found error: setupeng.dll". I've searched my hard drive for these files and I found setupeng.dll but not sucomct2.dll. I haven't found the file on the Internet either.
Internet Explorer 4 installs just fine, so why not IE5? Does anybody here know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance

It might be a faulty installer copy of IE5..that's a 'setup custom controls' dll that's used in the installer..the file should have been included in the IE5 archive..it wouldn't be in your windows directory..if it is in the installer, there might be a conflict between some file in your windows directory..IE is notorious for being incompatible with other versions of itself..however, in most other cases, usually the problem is with win16x.dll..
You might want to
a) try a different downloaded copy of IE5..they are not all the same..in fact there's significant differences in the setup routines between the various copies i've seen-
b)try de-installing ie4 if "a)" doesn't work..do a search in your windows system directory for files with the same date as the files in the IE4 directory and move them out of your path entirely ..you can verify they're IE files by looking at the info in the 'properties' dialog..don't delete them, just move them away, until IE5 is successfully installed.
if that doesn't help..then..
c) try Netscape 4.08 :)
Frankly, it's a much much better browser for WfWG if you've got the processor power and RAM (which you do

Hi, dominicus!

Where can I find another copy of IE5? I've tried searching the web for one but no luck.
I have Netscape 4.08 installed to and it is more stable than IE but I want to use IE5 because it's the latest browser available for WFWG. Even IE4 displays more pages correctly then Netscape.
I have two copies of IE5 downloaded. One is the full version and the other is just the installer which downloads IE.
With the full install the errors mentioned occurs. When I try the download installer it doesn't even start, it just displays an error
about a "General Protection Fault in Module ADVINS16.DLL", and then the mouse cursor disapears.
