you need to boot into dos, then using fdisk, erase ALL your partitions, then create a NEW primary dos partition. Then Format your disk in dos. Then you can install 3.1 from dos.
Hope this helps, Miles

I would advise that you start up with a boot disk, and run the Fdisk and format from it. First delete all partitions, then create a primary DOS partition, then restart. After restart, format the drive c:\ with the command "format c:". Then install DOS by booting with the first disk of your DOS installation set. Completly install DOS, and then remove the last disk from the computer. Then install Windows by inserting disk 1 of the install set and typing setup

I am a confused newbie.
As Win.3.1 is already running on the laptop then I assume so is a Dos. Why then the need to Fdisk and re-install Dos etc.??
I simply deleted Wfw.3.11 on my pc (not laptop) using the Dos.7.10 Deltree cmd (deltree windows) then re-installed Wfw.3.11 without any problems.
The query was how to delete and re-install Win.3.1 so why Fdisk?
