I believe that was the primitive form of copy protection back then. The installing software checks the disk label of each floppy as it is needed, so a copy of all the floppies to a CD does not work. I think it is possible to do a manual install. I haven't done a WFW3.11 install from floppy images for almost 10 years, maybe someone else remembers. (I use a Microsoft CD.)

I regularly install 3.x from cd and from a folder on the hard drive, just copy all the files into one driectory either on cd or in the hard drive, and run setup from that directory

Each diskette has an identifying file (DISK1 etc) - I don't believe volume labels are used

Resist the temptation to close your request for help with semantically-null questions like “Can anyone help me?”

When you have to choose between express/custom setup, take custom, not express...

You will need to install a *proper* version of DOS, such as 6.22 in order to install 3.x, it won`t work without it tho there are ways around it I believe.

Sorry if this post is a little late. Once you have DOS and CDROM driver installed, try the custom install as outlined in my posted response #7 on thread 11814. Good luck!
