Has anyone done this install windows 3.1 and or 3.11 you just install 3.1 in a directory where windows is not go to custom setup and change the directory to c:\win3.1 after installtion go into windows 95 and go into the directory where you installed windows 3.1 and or 3.11, Click properties on the file win.com and change it to run in the ms-dos mode, not under windows 95 or 98, but any ways windows 95 knows the cd-rom is there but windows 3.1 and 3.11 for workgroups does not regconize the cd-rom, I know I downloaded a driver for a computer with just windows 3.1 on it and got it to work, but I cannot find that driver any where, I know the driver had the files eject.exe, lock.exe unlock.exe, Let me know and if you have any questions how to install older versions of windows under 95 or 98 feel free to ask....

Win 3.1 / 3.11 CD-ROM drivers are generally the DOS drivers for a particular CD-ROM.
After you get the make and model number off of your CD-ROM drive, the DOS drivers can be found at most DRIVER sites-Try clicking the DRIVES->CD-ROM link on this web page.
other sites are
www.driverguide.com
www.driverzone.com
www.windrivers.comDR

Hi Thanx for the links, but I still can't get windows 31. and 3.11 to realize the cd-rom is there, I know there is a driver that you can use for most cd-roms. I use to have the disk but lost it, It came in a package with the wire you hook from the cd-rom to the soud blaster card so you can get cd audio out of the sound blaster card, I'm trying to find that driver I know I downloaded it from somewhere before I got the disk, I know my cd-rom is not a creative.....let me know if you know what driver I'm talking about.thanx

when I try and open windows 3.1, and error message comes on that the drivers are mismatched, and the a: drive doesn't even flicker on at all, and nothing can be read off the a: drive.
HELP!

the assignment I have being given is to find the differences between windows 3.1, 3.11, 95 a/b, 98 a/b, me and nt. Any help you could give me would be of great value
