I have a multiboot system with W98SE and DOS6.22 with Win 3.11 on two seperate partitions. It is a Celeron 350 with 128MB memory.
When I try to install Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 on Windows 3.11, the program refuses to go on, because there should be at least 4 megabyte of memory installed. Strange. I succesfully installed it on several other machines, using less memory (16MB, 32MB).
Is there some update for using more then 64MB memory under DOS and W3.11 ?

thx

daniel, maybe give internet explorer 5 a try......they may have fixed this bug. the older software that went with the older dos i.e. dos 5/6, supposedly supported RAM only up to 64 megs....same with windows 95. microsoft may have fixed this with ie5. besides, it's worth the download, as the java is up to date (internet explorer 4 is 2 years old); otherwise you'll be missing a lot of newer web content, and will get some javascript errors as well.

If I'm correct, Win 3.1x only supports up to 16 megs of RAM, or was it 64? Anyway, it probably is misreading the total amount of RAM in your PC...

I didn't know you could run Win 3.1x on one of the new machines...

I run win98 and win3.11 on 128MB RAM machine, and win3.11 only recognises 64MB RAM, so that appears to be it's limit.

As from Microsoft, they request that you put a /f:16 with setup. Example in the run command, setup /f:16. This worked just fine for me.
