Two questions: 1. What is the correct Cirrus Logic driver for the onboard video chip in the DELL "Low Profile" 486? The manual says the onboard chip is "compatible with Cirrus Logic VGA products", but there were loads of Cirrus drivers for Win3.1 on driverguide.com... The one I have is not the best choice because...
2. I now cannot enter Windows. I get a black screen. Inky blackness. No Windows. How do I enter Windows video setup if I can't get into Windows? Do I have to uninstall Windows and start again? There must be a way to edit Windows settings from a command prompt?

Sure - from DOS:
cd\windows
setup
.. invokes the DOS stub of Windows setup
Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience

I remember when I first had to go through that routine (after "experimenting" with the Windows settings)...
Still feel kinda stupid, even after 11 years...

If you are not shure what chipset it has look when you firs turn it on, it might tell you, if not search inside the case for a chip with Cirrus Logic on it, theit logo is sort of like two striped circles overlaping each other with lise extending from one of them. Also there is a utility that will id. the chip, but I forgot what it is called, and where you can get it. Try using google.
To set it up do as jboy said.
Customer: Do you have any mouse pads?
Salseman pointing: Over there.
