P.S. I did find this exact question after doing a search, but it had been posted in 1999 and there were no replies.

Seems like undelete protection is being run from DOS upon startup - although why it should hang, I'm not sure. Possibly the drive is full, or perhaps you should scan the hard drive with scandisk or similar

Try a clean boot (assuming you have MS-DOS6xx) by hitting F5 as you see 'starting MS-DOS' and open autoexec.bat with DOS Edit - look for any lines with undelete and disable by putting REM (and a space) at the beginning of the line. Save and reboot.

Okay, jboy, You are the man! I had dos 5.? so F5 only got me to the command prompt, but I managed to get the autoexec.bat file edited and put REM and a space at the beginning of the undelete line.

Fixed and up and running happily saving my store inventory of over 350 items and I don't know how many cash transactions.

I love you, man! Thanks

Hey, that's great, glad you got it going.

Never made use of the undelete protection myself, but 'sentry' rang a bell. Not sure just how effective its protection is - you may want to determine what was causing it to hang.

Also good to keep a bootdisk or two for your DOS version, and backup important files frequently.

Thanks for posting back
