ok, i just installed this copy of windows 3.10 on my computer, right when it had installed the files, it said some file was missing, i'm sorry, i forgot what it was, but it wasn't on disk 1 like it said it would be. i've tried to open three programs, solitaire, file manager, and control panel. control.exe is not found. since MS doesn't care that i think they're stupid for not supporting their older things, i won't even TRY asking for windows 3.1 help. so does anybody know another way to try to make my windows 3.1 fully workable, besides looking in a peer2peer client or anything? i may not have some other important files, so while i'm waiting for a reply i'll search and make a list.

Short of re-installing windows again and making a note of the missing file name, I cannot see what help I for one can give you.
Tell me the name of the file and I will send you a replacement copy(s)...

ok, here they are:
OLECLI.dll (write)
Write.exe(write)
OLECLI.dll(cardfile)
carfile.exe(cardfile)
OLECLI.dll(object packager)
Toolhelp.dll(object packager)
Packager.exe(object packager)
clipbrd.exe(clipboard)
PIFedit.exe(PIF editor)i use notepad, so write's out. i won't need cardfile, i don't know what object packager does, i will need to use clipboard, and i don't care about PIF editor. so there, thats several programs which the 6 disks did not include. i installed everything when it asked me to select them (i did expert install.)

oh, and the important one, it was something like config.sys or .ini. thats what i THINK, but i do KNOW that if you were a DOS computer i would say c*.sys or c*.ini.

<Jemuzu> Click my name for e-mail link, Send me a message and I will reply to message with missing files. Mick C

I have a couple of copies of MS-DOS 6.0, MS-DOS 7.10, Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11 on my systems, so I don't think any file will be missing in sometime. Therefore, it's very useful to back up the important files frequently.
