on ie5/netscape 4.08, is there a way to change the 'search' site for these browsers?
i dont like their search engines. i want them to point to www.google.com whenever i click on the search button of the browser.

For IE5 it's time for a bit of registry editing - run regedit, browse to HKLM\software\microsoft\internet explorer\search and edit the searchassistant key - this will change the page that appears in the left pane when you hit search.

For Netscape 4.08, add the following line to the prefs.js file while Netscape is not running:
user_pref("internal_url.net_search.url", "http://www.google.com");

The browser tends to forget this, though.
