IE3 - Unable to Open Serial Port

Hello,
I have a fax modem (trust communicator) connected to a 486 pc. It perfectly works with Fax applications and IE3 could find the port and the modem. Everything seemed to be ok but... when I try to connect to the Internet with the IE Dialer, it tells me that it is "unable to open serial port". It puzzles me because IE found the modem and the right port... Can anyone help ?
