ok here's the deal, after installing internet explorer 5 and deleteing it cause it was too slow i noticed that my network nieghborhood icon was now gray scaled when it had been in color before. i thought that it might be the icon cache but after trying several tricks to rebiuld the icon cache the problem persisteted, now the next thought is that the icon itself became corrupted so i copied the file to another pc and it showed up just fine! now i'm thinking it might have been because my 486 (the computer with the problem) is in 256 colors and its a highcolor icon but that doesn't explain why it was just fine before i installed ie 5 and none of the suggestions given by dan penny and Derek as well as others have worked! so i am reposting this problem so as it might get more attention. Please if anyone knows how to fix this please help out.
P.S. i am not a novice user or a newbie as poeple not knowing this have lead to... some misunderstandings, ^-^
