I recently installed Windows 3.1 on a 486 computer with 16MB RAM. Whenever I try to click help on any program, it says, "Unable to show help information!" Help me please

Check and see that winhelp.exe is present in your windows folder. Even if it is, might have become corrupted. You could extract a copy from one of the installation disks using 'expand' - the file to expand would be winhelp.ex_

This is where I'd reinstall windows. When installing off floppies a file can be misread or corupted during the process.

The advice above is correct but can be a pain by the you get it done.

I've already tried to expand it. I cannot seem to get it to work.

I'm afraid you'll need to provide more detail than that.

I've expanded it. When I get to Windows to use it, I does the same thing. The command I use at dos is:
"expand winhelp.ex_ C:\WINDOWS\winhelp.exe"

Maybe I need to download it from somewhere.

Do you know where I can get it?

If you've expanded it, it's probably ok - the problem may be elsewhere. Try a full reinstall as suggested by Skip.

fyi - responding at weekly intervals is not really conducive to holding anyone's interest.

The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing..if you can fake that, you've got it made.
