Hi all
i need a email program and AIM for Win 3.1
it is a 386 Win 3.1 and i was thinking of getting juno for it or some other free ISP
that might work with win 3.1
Questions:
is there a older version of juno or other isp that will work with win 3.1?
a version of AIM that will work with Win 3.1?
do i need a email client or does juno ect have built in email?
i realize that free ISP are rare nowdays is netzero still around and does it work on Win 3.1 or is Juno my best bet?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Tim

You might want to download and install Netscape Communicator 4.08 for Win 3.1. It comes along with Netscape Messenger, an email client, and AIM. This is a big download however (about 17 Megs). Another option is to get AIM on it's own (there is a Win 3.1 stand alone version available for download) and you can use Yahoo mail on the web if you don't want to download and install an email client (it will work very well, even with IE3). As for a free ISP, sorry, can't help you there! You can get Netscape Communicator 4.08 for Win 3.1 in my Browsers section, or get AIM stand alone for Win 3.1 in my Other Resources section (link says: 'AOL Instant Messenger for all platforms' and is located near the bottom of the section.
HTH.
Click on my banner to get to my site.

The only Win3.1 browser you've a hope of running on a 386 is Opera3.x or Netscape2.2 but you aren't asking for a browser.FoxMail is my favoured Win3.1 email program and it should work for you. If you need the Shiva dialler get in touch.
You could also try the Arachne browser for DOS, which comes with a dialler and email client.
Can't help with AIM. Checking the mail regularly works best for me, and it makes sense to keep the number of filetypes and programs to a minimum. Especially on a 386!

Well yes, on a 386, Netscape Communicator would be pretty heavy, which is why i provided you with the AIM stand alone download address. If i remember correctly, it's about 2 Megs. However i disagree with OldJake, in that i'm sure IE3SP1 will run quite well on your system. You can get it in my browsers as well, and it comes along with it's own easy to install dialer.

We are a Free isp and are working on a disk for 3x users (With browser, email, dialer on) but we need feedback from win3x users
1. Would You Use The Serivce
2. What Software Will You Need ?

Internet Explorer 3.0 will run on a 386, it will just be a little chuggy with surfing the web, but if it has 8 ram it is set for viewing webpages. If you have less than 8 ram, you are best cutting out pictures and using the e-mail client involved with it. For aim i have it and it runs fine on a 386.

Hey guys, I'm sorry about this being off-subject, but was just wondering if you could explain a little thing to me. I have a 486DX. So, when someone asks me how fast my computer is...what do I say? 486, 486DX, or "DX". Also, what is "dx"? Anyways...If you could respond, that'd be great...Try to send me an email at kanesweb@oz-online.net, because I'm not sure if I'll be able to find this page again. :-)THANX FOR YOUR TIME,
Kane.
