i have win3.1, does anyone know where i can get windows95 to put on my 486 cpu. and does anyone know any free isp's for a 2400bps. don't even say freewwweb.

This is a Win3.1 forum. Cant you read? Go to the Win9x forum and ask this question. If you knew how to use a search engine or newsgroup you could find the download yourself.

You sould be able to 'buy' Windows 95 from a computer shop, ie. a shop that sells computers & computer software.

You can find reasonable priced versions of w95 on ebay. I'd suggest at least version "b" to save hassles of patching and updating "a". There are pirate downloads out there, think somebody mentioned a warez newsgroup that occasionally has it sometime in last couple weeks on this forum. You can look it up as easily as I. Dont know how far I'd trust such though.
I'd upgrade modem to at least 28k. Get a used external modem. Your computer should easily recognize it under W95. Even with shipping included you should find one under $15. You could probably connect with your ancient modem, but unless you are running a text only browser like Lynx under DOS, you will be very frustrated with the speed. Even then most ISPs dont want super slow modems on their network and wont even let you connect or stay connected if you cant connect at least 9600bps.
As to a free ISP with old and slow computers, I suggest WebFlyer (has small banner) or one of the InFree clones with no banner. Big software with big banners like NetZero or Juno will make your surfing very slow and crash prone.By way Freewwweb is dead as is WorldSpy, Freei, Millioneyes, and believe if parent company CMGI cant sell it by January, so will 1stUP be gone.

for dodie . you are an idiot. i didn't ask you, i asked someone who would give me a ligetament aswer like Hermit John. thanks for your info. and for topaz, i'd rather stick to gettin' it for free. i'll check the 9x forum

Many Public Libraries have this or, if you have an ohio college near you, you can do an ohiolink search for a college/university that will lend you the version.
