Wanting Win95...Computer has 8mb, 211mb...So I know 95 would be stretch. Should I upgrade? I have found many sites with memory upgrades (mine supports up to 64) for between 20 and 40 bucks. What would be overkill on this system? Anything? Everything? What about a hard drive? HP site says biggest TESTED hard drive was 500+. What size, how much and WHERE? This computer cost me $40 bucks so am willing to sink a few bucks into it...Thanks again, P-

Max out the ram.
Bigger hdds can be used with overly software or add-on enhanced ide cards.

Enjoy yourself.

more RAM is always nice, but Win 95 will run with the eight megs of RAM u have. I have a compaq deskpro 386 20/e with 8 Mb RAM, Win 95, and i can even go on high speed internet wih it. (It kinda defeates the purpose of high speed, cause its a bit too slow.

Before I spend money on ram or HD i would go to used-pcs.com and get a P1 Vectra cheap ($59) http://www.used-pcs.com/

Unless you just want to see what you can do with the 486 for fun.

They also have a feature to search by Make/ Processor / speed

I have found great deals there.

I have a Vectra VL with about a 4Gb hdd but if you do this you probably want to get win95B at the least, to use fat32, that way you wont be forced into partitioning it into more than one partition, and in addition, it may run faster.

other than that I say go for it.
