hi there,
i'm using write (write.exe) from wfw311 (german version) under windows95c for my complete business correspondence.
my problem with "write":
every time when i open a new file, i have to change the font to my favourite font (avant garde italic).
when i want to edit the tabs, i have to switch on the grids.
but when i close write, it forgets these settings.until now i found no way to save these thing as "default". the only thing which works is to activate "backup". this sets in win.ini [MSWrite]
Backup=1i tried to add
font=avant garde italic
like under [MSCharmap] of the win.ini, but this didn't work.
and a write.ini doesn't exist.does anyone know the right trick? is there an undocumented switch?
greetings, pit

I have no idea if this is true, i found it in my WINDOWS\WINWORD directory in WFWG :
John Smith

**The contents of the "template" file used with Write (see: Advanced Topics in your manual) may be changed by modifying "template.doc" in your Windows sub-directory!
Best

hi jubalsams,
thanks for the idea, but it didn't work. tried it on several ways: template.doc and template.wri in c:\windows\ (where write.exe is) and in d:\korrespo\ (what my starting folder is) - no reaction!
tried it with "template=template.wri", "default=template.wri" and "load=template.wri" under [MSWRITE] in win.ini.
nor did starting WRITE open a template-file, nor were the font information in the template.wri saved when opening the next time. the file must have at least one "blank" when saving.
okay - that's a possibility: opening a link to a file (with one blank in my favourite font) when starting WRITE.
anyone another idea?
greetings, pit

WRITE3X, by David Aylott, allows changing (in effect) the default fonts and margins in Windows Write. It's part of a Win 3.x shareware package. Download "Version 4.0 for Windows 3.x" from the following URL:
