Hi everybody (jboy???), I just downloaded the awesome "Beneath A Steel Sky" (a cyber-punk adventure game released as freeware by Revolution Softwares last year). My problem is that the zip file I downloaded contains a small .dna file and a big .dsk one. This was meant to play with a program called ScummVM (to allow people with brand new computers to play some old games), but I'd like to play it on my old machine without this. I assume this .dsk file is an image of the original CD-Rom (69M), so I'm wondering how to "extract" the files from this. I tried Winimage but had no success. By the way, if anyone is interested in this game, you have a link on the site of Revolution. Hope some can help. Thanks

Hi Gal : )
DSK does seem to be a type of disk image, but I suspect (in this case) it may be for a platform other than DOS. There was a DOS version of "Beneath A Steel Sky", but also ones for Amiga & Mac.
Not had any experience with the SCUMM VM emulator (although I've heard it recommended), but from what I've gathered by checking their homepage and some game forums, that's what you'll need to use to play Steel Sky.

So you mean this is the image of the Amiga game?

Well, my best guess would be Macintosh - but that's all it is. At any rate, it sounds as if that file is structured specifically to function with scumm vm (or maybe the other way around).

DSK is pretty much the same as IMG and whatever.
DSK files can be read by WinImage, or an IBM tool called LOADDSKF. IBM also has a similar command-line DOS utility called SAVEDSKF to translate the diskette to a dsk file.
I didn't know/think DSK could go all the way to 70MO!!

Well, no - those DSK files are typically diskette images.
