HI,
Im trying to install windows 3.1 along with windows 2k. But the problem is you need dos 6.2. But when I try to use a 6.2 boot or install disk I get the messagentldr not found. Any sugestions on how I could get 3.1 running without deleteing 2k? Thanks

There is a patch called 3XSTART.EXE that allows running Win3x with Win9x, but i'm not sure it will work with Win2000. You could ask Mick C., the webmaster of Powerload, or just try it. You will find the program in the Powerload Win 3.x page, almost at the bottom. Good Luck.

FYI,

The partition you install windows 3.11 under must be fat32 or fat16 (your windows 2000 partition is either a fat32 or NTFS), it will not operate under NTFS (that I know of). If you boot your system with a DOS diskette (windows 98 boot disk is good since it supports fat32), you should be able to install windows 3.11. Then after the install is done, apply the patch that lightspeed spoke of, and it should work. You need but only to boot your PC with the MSDOS bootdisk and then run win.com from the windows directory.

HTH,
Michael

What's the point of installing Win 3.1 with Win2K? Anyways, put Win3.1 on a FAT16 partition; that's the only one it is compatible with. Then, put Windows 2000 on a partition that is FAT32, or NTFS, so it's not accessible from 3.1. But, it's better that you install Win 3.1 first, instead of Win2K. E-mail me if you have any problems
