How to install external CD-ROM drive

I have an generic brand external cd-rom drive that is supposed to connect through my laptops parallel port. None of the drivers I've tried work. Anybody else ever have this problem? HELP!

paul, all i can suggest, is try contacting the laptop's manufacturer on the net (toshiba? packard bell? dell?). see if you can find the link to tech support, and leave them an email, telling of your dilemna. that's what they're there for ;o)

I swaped some Playstation games for a external cd rom, and the cd rom dosen't detect on my computer after it is pluged in to the printer port and the other one (the same size) What do I do I've tried so many drivers and programs and windows 95 dosen't even know it's there!!! Is it my Bios (I have A DX2- 66) ??????? Please help me ( will my new dx4 dect it?????
