How to enter bios

I can't enter bios on my ancient Gateway P3C laptop running windows 95. Gateway support tells me to press f1 or f2 when the gateway logo appears. The logo never appears, so I've tried f1, f2, esc and del when the Starting Windows message appears, but none of these worked. Any ideas? Thank you for any help!

Hi Hank: To open the bios you need to hit the delete button (in most cases) right after the memory count when PC is first turned on. If you see the info in DOS on screen, you're too late & need to re-boot again. If you seeing the Windows logo, then your way too late. Your PC needs to get the bios information first before starting DOS commands, hope this helps.
Good luck. Z

You can try this. When you are in Windows, exit to Dos, then try CTRL-ALT-ESC from the Dos prompt. On my old 486, either ESC while booting or CTRL-ALT-ESC from the Dos prompt will get me in the Bios. If not, you can try CTRL-ALT-F1 or CTRL-ALT-F2. I had a page with all the key combinations to get into Bios for most PC, but i can't find it right now, sorry. If this still doesn't work, i will look further and try to recover that page again for you.
Try removing the floppy cable or hard drive cable. When the system posts an error will be displayed showing what key sequence to press to enter the bios.
