I want to turn my computer on and have it boot directly from the hard drive. Can anybody tell me how to set it up to do that?

It all depends on why it's not now booting from the hard disk.

If it's because you have a floppy in drive A:, then remove the floppy before booting, or set your bios to boot from C: first.

If it's because your hard disk is not bootable, then it depends on why your hard disk isn't bootable. If it isn't bootable because there's no system installed, you'd have to sys the hard disk using the correct version of DOS. If it's because your hard disk doesn't have a Primary DOS Partition that is set active, you'll have to use fdisk as appropriate.

Perhaps with a little more information, someone might be more helpful. (Did it used to boot from the hard drive and stop? If so, what were the circumstances? Does sys c: work? Does C:\dos\sys C: work? What operating system do you have? Do apps on your hard drive function ok? etc.:)
