I have a Sunrace HyperBook 2200sx and accidentally deleted some files so i decided to format the hard drive and didn't format c:\s so nothing, not even dos is on the drive. Whenever I turn it on it ask for a boot disk. I try to use the first disk of Dos 6.22 and the first disk for Windows 3.1. I have made a few boot disks and downloaded sofware to create boot disks and whenever I use a disk it always ask to put a boot disk in drive a:. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions??

thats the wrong fomat command. never do that.
have you gone into the bios, set the boot sequence so the computer can boot from the floppy drive??
if you get the boot disk to boot then,
a:\
a:\format c:/s [note the forward slash]
make sure if use just the dos disk #1, it'll boot and give you easy directions how to proceed.
www.bootdisk.com
for new disks

Did you create a boot disk from what you d/l'd or just put the file on a floppy ('cause that doesn't work)
Win31 installation disks just don't boot, period.
Go to the CMOS setup and ensure that 'boot from floppy' is enabled and that a: is first in the boot sequence.
No need to format now (or likely even earlier) - just get/create the bootdisk appropriate to your version of DOS (your actual OS) boot up and enter
sys c:
That'll restore the system files, you'll see 'system transferred' if all goes well and the HDD should boot on its own.
You should've been able to boot from the DOS installation disk #1 - but there may be a problem with some of those, judging from recent posts.
You'll want to install DOS first, then install your Win31.

There is no boot sequence and i create a boot disk, and download some. My other Win 95 computer booted from the dos 6.22 disk one.

Set PC to boot first from floppy rather than HD, insert Dos 6.2 floppy, it should start DOS from the disc if everything is fine and you can use Setup.exe (Install.exe?) to get it fired up again... if not maybe your floppy is messed up :(
