Help me get my scanner working please!!

I already installed all of the stuff from the scanner CD but i still can't get it to work....I open up the sanner menu and I press the scan button to start up my scanner but all of a sudden this little window pops out and says: (There was a problem communicating with your Easy Photo Image Wave. Please make sure that your parallel port is set to EPP or Bi-directional in your system's BIOS .) Then when I press OK, this other window pops out and it reads:
( Run Time Error! Program C:\ProgramFiles\EasyPhoto\EZPhoto.exe abnormal program termination )
So what I'm tring to say is that I have no clue what all of this STUFF means and I would really appreciate it if someone would help me out with all of this mess....thanks...

Firstly, you have to check in the BIOS to see what your printer port is set to. When the computer is booting up, you should have a message telling you what to press to enter setup eg ESC or F10 or something else. If you can get into setup, then look through each setup page for Parallel Port Mode. ( mine is in Chipset Features Setup ) Modify the entry till it says EPP or bi-directional then escape and save. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE !! Then maybe your software problem will be resolved also. Good luck !
