need help , just got this old 486 comp w/o hdd and I installed hdd from another old comp with win 3.11 works ok but no cd. After mem check gives this mesage " Primary, SCSI # 0-TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-3401TA" then a couple lines below it says
"BIOS not installed!"
After that it goes to C prompt I type win and 3.11 launches ok, but no cd drive

It appears that the old computer had at one
time a SCSI drive. Do you have a CD Drive
in your present computer? Where is it
connected to? Was there another controller
card in the computer you took the drive from?

my present comp has it's original cd drive and its conected to a board (SCSI controller??) that's conected to the MB .I only installed the hdd(with win 3.11 in it) I dont remember what was on the other comp.
Does that help?

I think it's OK. The bootup sequence is
looking for SCSI which is on the other
computer. As long as you don't install
another CD driver for this motherboard you
should be able to put it back in the original
computer. Your best bet is to get another
hard drive for this computer. If you want
to use it in this computer and you want to
reuse the other computer you're going to have
to save the SCSI settings and drivers.

por favor si me pudieran conseguir los controladores de aspire 3000 se lo agradeseria mucho
y windows 3.11 el programa completo

Saving Settings.
Typically the first thing I do would burn
a CD copy of the Hard Drive.
You probably can't do it.Minimal Version
Create a boot floppy that accesses the CD.
Copy autoexec.bat and config.sys to a
bootable floppy.COPY all programs referenced in config.sys
examples. HIMEM.SYS, EMM386.EXE, etc.
You are especially interested in anything
refering to the CD.
COPY all programs referenced by autoexec.bat
MSCDEX.EXE
EDIT config.sys and autoexec.bat so that
they only reference the programs on floppy.
BOOT the system from the floppy. Check if
you can read the CD. If you can you got the
minimal things to access the CD in DOS.
If not you might have to change parameters
and try again.
In DOS6.xx and WFW3.11 everything should be
in the config.sys and autoexec.bat.Other things to save. Any subdirectory
related to CD similar to \CDROM, etc. for
other utility software.
