I am looking for a good icon oriented file manager for Win 3.1 / WFWG 3.11. Something that can do either large icons or the more traditional small icon "list view". Please don't say Calmari unless you can run just the file manager, not the desktop. I already use Norton Desktop for Windows and really like it. I am just looking for a good GUI file manager. Any suggestions?

If you know how to program you may as well get Calmira's source code and remove everything but the file manager...

Thanks for the comments. I've tried the Win98 Explorer.exe and the WinNT 4.0 Explorer.exe. Neither of those will run, even though I have win32s 1.3 installed. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a Win95 installation. I do have the original upgrade CD, but everything is in .cab files, and you can't just get at and extract the individual files.

I also tried Calmari - nice, but it seems that you can only have one explorer window open at any one time. Does anyone know how to get Calmari to open two or more explorer windows?

I also tried Calmari's explorer without Calmari running, but that just doesn't work AT ALL!

Thanks again for the follow ups.

I am using Norton File manager with XP. The thing is over 10 years old and still works great. One of the best File managers ever. I don't even have the install for it. Each time I get a new OS, I just copy the files to a new directory and the damn thing works. Amazing. Been using it at least 10 years.
