I would, but the shipping isn't worth it. Can you find someone who doesn't have a computer and give it to them? That's what I do with salvaged machines.

It would be an excellect computer for a 5-year-old - load it up with a drawing program and some simple games. I just gave one to my three-year-old niece. Even a middle-school kid could do homework on it.

If you take it to Salvation Army they could probably get a few bucks for it.

Just some ideas to avoid someone having to pay shipping.

Best Wishes,
Bob

Hi Joe,
If you would check around I'm sure someone close to you, especially some older shut in or handicapped person would be thrilled to receive such a gift. You would surely make their day with such a gift. You get the joy of giving and seeing the smile that way and make a new friend.

Hi James, James here :)

I totally agree; I have given away many systems over the past several years, and most people don't realize how much it means to someone to be given a computer, no matter how old or "obsolete" it is. Learning can be a lot of fun!

Cheers!

Agree with the previous posts. Also it would be a nice box to learn Linux on. Am posting this on RH8 using WindowMaker on a P200mmx.

It would help if posting this type of message to say just where you live to start with?

My Wife (though i wouldn't call her elderly to her face) wanted a computer in the kitchen for that same reason (recipes). Since I set up an older machine for her, she rarely uses the main PC anymore. Does all of her email & websurfing from the kitchen PC. She only uses the main one when she wants to print something.

I might add that I'm eating better now, too.

Hi Joe,
Glad you found someone to use it.
I surely enjoy the look on kids faces when I fix an old one and give it to them.

Many of us do jibuib. I even find a line forming for 286 and 386 machines.

Lots of instant smiles and many are returned to me when they are replaced by better pc's.

A quick tune up and back down the road they go.

"(though i wouldn't call her elderly to her face)" Geez Dave, you may be sleeping in the back yard tonight.
