General Protection error win setup

Well im running a virtual machine. i have a fast cpu and i gave it a bit a ram. Right now i am trying to install win 3.1 from dos 6.22. But when i install it the first 2 disks are right but after that when i get to the third anywhere from there or to the end i get a general protection error in the user.exe or something. And it cant be the virtual machine cause i have friends that can run it asswell and i can run other os' on it. please help. thnx
