Hi everybody, I currently have an hp omnibook 4000c (486dx4/100mhz, 500M HD)an I'd like to play such games as the famous Lucasarts's Day of the Tentacle, Indy Fate of Atlantis, Sam and Max...
For the moment (runnig w3.1), if I launch these games from windows, I get the voices, but not the sound, and under Dos, I get the sound, but not the voices (pretty bizarre, isn't it?).
If anybody has a suggestion...
Thanks

Run the setup file to change the settings and see if other sound cards can be used.AdLib and may be others are often recognized as your sound card.It is a little tedious work to do but it may help get the sound and voices. There is no standard for sound in these old games.Good luck.

Hi Gal
If you have sound assigned to various Windows 'events' this will prevent full functional sound when launching a DOS based game from win.
Generally better to play a DOS game from DOS.
Depending on your sound card, DOS games often require a SET BLASTER= line in autoexec.bat to establish settings.
p.s. - - you haven't responded to replies in your previous posts concerning Office - what's up with that?
DOS: Learn it Love it Live it

Well thanks (jboy especially)
Guess I'll just keep playing them under DOS, all the more that I finally managed to have my built-in mouse work like a charm!
As concerns the upgrade to win95/Office, I think I just will forget it. Seems too difficult to me, and that would just have been a kind of personal challenge, but now that these games and that mouse work...
By the way, one more question: s there a way to have both voices and subtitles on the CD versions of Day of the Tentacle and Fate of Atlantis???
Thanks

Hi Gal
I'm sure it wasn't your intention, but it's something of a breach of forum etiquette not to reply to your original posts - especially if you continue to post new questions.
Most of us here appreciate the feedback, it lets us know if our answers were in any way helpful.
re: office
While your processor is pretty high end for a 486, not a whole lot of RAM for running Win95 smoothly, and 170Mb HDD would be hard to live with.Possibly you have some documentation with those games? Check on the CD for any kind of text or help program. Took a quick look around, found a FAQ page, but they seem to be walkthroughs.

Well thanks a lot.
And NO, it wasn't my intention. I always answer back. Just a problem of timing sometimes...
See you

Ah, good then - I just kind of skimmed through what was there.
Sounds like a fun game - good reviews.
My other computer is a CRAY
