i go to the store, and buy a pack of maxell 1.44MB floppy disks , and try to copy a 1.40MB file to it and it says its bigger than its destination file9 it can't enter the floppy), anybody knows why? i check 31/2 floppy properties and it says the disk is 1.38MB whats the reason for this and whatz the solution
peace.

Yes, a new floppy is formatted to hold slightly more than 1 440 000 bytes, which is why they are dubbed 1.44 megs, but since 1k=1024 bytes and 1 Meg= 1024 k, you end up with a 1.38 Megs floppy. You can use a program like 2 Megs format to increase the capacity. The basic capacity of a 2 Megs formatted floppy is 1.74 Megs, but the program can get you really close to 2 Megs (With maximum compression, not recommended!). The 1.74 format is reliable and can be stored for a long time without data loss. For bigger files, you can use a file splitter, like splitz. Both 2 Megs Format and Splitz can be found in my briefcase, accessible from the link at the top of my page.

1.44 Mb = 1,457,664 bytes
This is pretty basic.....Set Explorer to show hidden files and check the floppy - something's there.

So easy to type .... so hard to check...
Apologies - actually checked Windoze floppy disk properties.... 1.38 Mb is 'right'
(things were simpler under DOS)
