I have an old computer I use for fun and my granddaughter and I don't know what kind of printer would work with it. Anyone know what would work or how I can find out? It has 386 and is a NEC. I had an old Tandy printer but it died. Where can I find one that will work with this?

best bet is an old Epson dot matrix like the LQ100 depending on what you want to do with it, if its just for letters etc then a kodak diconix inkjet would be fine, if you look at the list oof printers win 3.x supports then you`ll hve an idea of what to look out for. afaik HP deskjet 6xx series came with win 3.x drivers also so u can use these for colour work i hve the drivers for the 690 series if needed

I have 3 working dot matrix printers I got from the Salvation Army for $3 a piece which all work with windows 3.1. Check around at Thrift stores & such.

If you want good quality B/W printing, Brother laser printers have DOS and Win3.1 drivers. They are widely used in small offices so should be easy to find second hand.

But as your granddaughter was mentioned, you'll probably want a colour printer :-)

If you want a color inkjet, get one that sets up with floppy disks and will setup in Win 3.1 I have an Apollo p-2200 that I bought from Radio Shack and it works great in Windows 3.1
