Error: 1782 Disk controller failure

After installing a program through Windows, computer froze. Restarted computer and now during reboot the following message displays: 1782 Disk controller failure. After a short period another message is displays asking to insert correct disk and try try again. Cannot progress any further pass this point.

Problems with hard disks are indicated by 17XX errors.The computer more or less suggests booting from alternative diskette drive.Unless you have old parts to substitute for the repairs, I would disconnect the hard drive and boot from diskette for the time being until you find the parts( being drive, controller and cable).Check your bios settings to boot without the hard drive after disconnecting it.Your computer may be on its last mile.Good luck.

Summary: Do it again, and after exiting, run fdisk, if there is an error running fdisk, then maybe the hard disk controller is buggered. Otherwise you can reconfigure you hard disk with fdisk ...
