Hy guys

Well I've tryed all the 16bit email programs i can find and none seem to work with gmail and i think it is because they use the SSL secure sockets thing and the older programs have no settings for that. Does anyone know of a workaround or perhaps some free pop email accounts that do not use that?

Thanks

John

HY guys

Sorry for the delay i wasnt aware that there was more responces.

ok i had read all the tips and also i would guess that the never versions of pegasus do in fact support SSL but the 16bit cleint to my knowlage does not. What happends when i put in all the info into eather it or fox pro is that it sits there and trys to connect to the server untell it times out.

I did try OE and it in fact does have a setting for SSL and does download the mail but only from nov through aprl and nothing from then tell now but i would rather not use it as it is a pain in the ass to back up the emails and does not suport the standerd mbox format.

I did find one salution and i found another free email account at inMail24.com that does not use SSL and pegasus works fine with it excpect the smtp witch does not work right after playing with it it seems the HTML engine isnt so hot LOL

does anyone else use gmail with a 16bit cleant?

SMTP has nothing to do with "html engine".

Different protocols, different ports.

You can try AOL 1.0 (1993), 2.0 (1994) or 3.0 (1996) for Windows (I think they were before SSL). Check your email for the attachments.
